The Clancy Boys

The Clancy Boys

New young band from Waterford, singing the old ballads for the craic

The Clancy Boys are a special bunch of young lads with great musical pedigree, doing the old songs their own way. The Clancy Boys are:

  • Colm Clancy (vocals, guitar, banjo)

  • Liam Clancy (vocal, spoons, bodhran)

  • Fiachna Ó Lochlainn (vocals, bodhran and whatnot)

  • Molua Mac Seain (vocals and guitar)

  • Dinny Ó Gealbháin ( fiddle and skinflute)

They are devilish, and a touch wild, young fellows who sing the old ballads for the craic. They have their inimitable own style of doing things, and a lot of time it just happens in the moment. Most of the songs are old songs they got from their grandparents, or from family gatherings, but they put their own stamp on them. Songs like the Jolly Tinker, Bold O Donoghue, The Mermaid, Sound the Piobrach, and The Wild Rover get The Clancy Boys special treatment.

A fun night is guaranteed. You want to be able to say “I was there for the first big gig of this group”

Doors open at 7pm, and show is at 7.30 pm sharp.

Special guest Willie Whelan will open the show, with his show “How’ya now?”
