Silent Exposure
The Photography of William Despard Hemphill (1816-1902)
The exhibition "Silent Exposure: The Photography of William Despard Hemphill" is currently running until 28th June 2026 at the Main Guard in Clonmel.
Much of this work reflects his studies of various historic buildings and archaeological landmarks, his passion for horticulture as well as glimpses into the homes and lifestyles of the local landed gentry.
Hemphill was a master of stereoscopic photography, creating immersive 3D-like images long before modern technology.
Whether you’re a photography enthusiast or a history buff, this is a must-see tribute to a man who captured the spirit of his time.
