Cultural Exchanges: Commonality and Community
Finding commonality between Ukrainian and local communities through our use of plants
Centring around a knowledge of plants, their uses and folklore, the project will search for our commonality through our use of plants. Participants will make materials from Tipperary hedgerows and create textile artefacts linked through embroidery in both Ukrainian and Irish traditions on linen. Stories surrounding the plants and folklore will be recorded during the sessions and assembled into audio to accompany the linen installation to be sited in the centre of Clonmel during the 2026 festival.
The first meeting will take place on Saturday 17th January 2026 from 2pm-5pm in The Platform in The Showgrounds Shopping Centre. If you have an interest in crafting, please register via our google form to take part in the project: https://forms.gle/tDjsiZV41DB8a6iDA
