Blanket of remembrance

Blanket of remembrance
A 40-metre hand-crocheted blanket created by Craftivism for Palestine is touring Ireland as a striking memorial to the thousands of children killed in Gaza. The blanket has already been displayed on Galway’s Shop Street and rolled out across the Peace Bridge in Derry, with further stops planned nationwide. Made up of 2,300 six-inch squares, each symbolising 10 children who have been killed in Gaza, the project is a collaboration of women from all 32 counties of Ireland and from countries including Canada, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Greece and England. Organisers say the growing installation is both a work of remembrance and a call for justice for the people of Palestine.
