A River of Words

An immersive exploration of language inspired by works from the Word Sparks sessions

River of Words is an immersive exploration of language inspired by written works that have come out of the Word Sparks ekphrastic writing sessions in the South Tipperary Arts Centre.

Representing how inspiration ripples from artworks to written works and beyond, this textural installation at STAC Chapel invites you to meander and muse along a River of Words, creating your own ripples. Take a seat on the ‘riverbank’, a relaxing pause for those who wish to create or to simply ponder the experience.

Jenny Cox is a writer, poet and AWA facilitator based in Clonmel. Author and co-author of two poetry collections, she was awarded Poet in Residence at South Tipperary Arts Centre in 2025 where she facilitates the Word Sparks writing sessions.

Phillipa Kennedy is a multidisciplinary artist and graduate of Crawford College of Art and Design. With extensive experience developing community-based projects, she has facilitated and collaborated on numerous local art exhibitions as well as showing her own work.
