1916 Flag Raising Ceremony

1916 Flag Raising Ceremony

A flag raising ceremony will take place at 11am, on Easter Sunday morning at the 1916 monument in Emmet Street, Clonmel. This is an annual event organised by “Coiste Spiorad 1916”, a local committee set up in 1991 to honour the memory of those from the Clonmel area who mobilised to join the Easter Rising, 110 years ago.

This year the proclamation will be read by Bláthnaid Ni Rathaille, grand-niece of “The Ó Rathaille” and resident of Clonmel. The event will be presided over by Con Hogan, Chairman of the committee and Pat English Mayor of Clonmel Municipal District will be in attendance.

All are welcome to this brief and respectful ceremony
