DESCRIPTION:This July will see the results of a nine-month socially engaged
	 project by\nSéamus Nolan in collaboration with members of the Clonmel Tra
	veller community\,\ncontinuing STAC’s development and support of socially 
	engaged art practices.\n\nThe Blackened Circle is a monument to the tempor
	ary possession\, occupation\, use\nand enjoyment of land that has been cus
	tomary for Irish Traveller communities\nfor centuries. In the past\, circl
	es of black ash and charred sticks are what\nremained to mark the campfire
	s that were central to the gathering of nomadic\ncommunities along roadsid
	es and networks of traditional camping grounds. The\nproject involves work
	ing collaboratively with Traveller community members to\ndocument and shar
	e these storied sites\, recounting and sustaining the\nconnections to the 
	land and to the communities intersecting those places.\n\nIn partnership w
	ith Creative Communities\, Creative Ireland Programme\, Tipperary\nCounty 
	Council and South Tipperary Arts Centre.\n\nExhibition runs until 1st Augu
