DESCRIPTION:> Exploring how migration and place shape identity\n\nThis exhi
	bition by STAC's 2025 Artist in Residence\, Zoe Velthuysen\, explores how\
nmigration and place shape identity\, drawing from the artist's own experi
ence of\nmoving from Australia to Tipperary.\n\nMotivated by the internal
and often quiet ways in which place interacts with\nidentity\, Velthuysen'
s work engages with how surroundings\, systems\, and social\ndynamics leav
e their mark on a person over time\, asking: what happens when the\ncontou
rs of a new place meet the inner workings of a migrant? This exhibition\ni
nterrogates the experience of adapting to new surroundings\, questioning w
hat it\nmeans to belong\, to move\, and to carry a sense of home within on
e's body.\n\nZoe Velthuysen is an Irish Australian artist working primaril
y in drawing and\nsculpture. Her practice examines migration as a lived\,
bodily experience\,\nfocusing on how identity shifts through movement\, ad
aptation\, and place.\nGrounded in personal research and observation\, her
work considers how\nattachments to place are formed and how they change o
	ver time.\n\nThe artist's material-led process uses repetition\, accumulat
ion\, and subtle\nvariation to reflect instability and gradual change. Dra
wing forms the\nfoundation of her practice\, while sculptural work extends
these investigations\ninto three-dimensional space. Her work often engage
s with thresholds\,\ntransitional states\, and the tension between permane
nce and impermanence.\n\nVelthuysen is a recent graduate of the BA (Hons)
in Fine Art at MTU Crawford\nCollege of Art and Design. She has exhibited
in group shows in Ireland and has\nreceived several graduate awards\, incl
uding: the Lavit Gallery Graduate Group\nExhibition Award\, Cork City Coun
cil's Arts Office Purchase Prize\, and the MTU\nStudent Engagement Exhibit
ion Award.\n\n‍STAC's Tipperary Artist in Residence Award is supported by th
e Tipperary Arts\nOffice and the Arts Council of Ireland.\n\n\n
